Sales Pro Tip #3

If taking 3000+ calls over the past few years has taught me anything, it’s this:

 

Influence starts with the self.

 

What I mean is…

 

You’re ability to influence others is largely predicated on:

 

[+] Who you are (Your identity)

[+] How you show up (Your standards)

[+] What you believe (Your worldview)

[+] And how well you know yourself (Your self-awareness)

 

If you can’t influence yourself, you won’t influence others...

 

If you don’t live up to your own highest standards, then you won’t influence someone to live up to theirs...

 

If you give into your own limiting beliefs, then your prospect will give into theirs...

 

If you don’t fully understand yourself, you’ll never fully understand your prospect…

 

Now don’t get me wrong, Skill IS important…

 

But after you hit a certain threshold in skill, things will start to shift…

 

Maintaining consistent high performance will become more about your ability to know and manage thyself...

 

And less about your tactics & strategies...

 

It’s the exact reason why two salespeople can use the same exact process and get entirely different results.

 

All of that said, here’s my challenge to you:

 

The next time you’re in a sales slump, look at yourself FIRST...

 

[X] Not your lead quality

[X] Not your market

[X] Not your sales script

 

Instead, take a look at yourself and ask:

 

[+] Am I living up to my own highest standards?

[+] Am I keeping the promises I make to myself?

[+] Am I clear on my vision? Do I know WHY I’m doing what I’m doing?

[+] Am I getting up today with a sense of excitement and purpose?

[+] Am I inspired?

 

In the past couple months I’ve trained over 100 sales reps 1-1...

 

And never have I ever had someone in a sales slump be able to answer “YES” to all of the above questions…

 

It’s that powerful.

 

Believe me. I’ll be the first one to tell you that I wish it was simply all about the strategies and tactics. It’d be a LOT easier that way. For all of us...

 

But that couldn’t be further from the truth.

 

Optimize yourself, and optimize your influence.
